"We were the first into Internet Banking and this is why security is very important to us. We found that DetectIT® and RSA SecurID form a unique and technologically advanced solution suitable for our needs on our IBM iSeries and NT servers,” says the IT Director of Secure Trust Banking Group PLC.

Secure Trust operates a wide range of banking and related financial services to private and merchant banking. The group consists of Secure Homes, Secure Trust Bank and private and merchant banking operating under the Arbuthnot name. In line with their corporate objective, the group has successfully achieved year on year growth in both profits and earnings per share. Their banking applications systems operate 24 hours a day on their IBM System-i system, secured by DetectIT from Safestone Technologies.

"Our year on year growth has resulted in increased information exchange over our networks. For example, the clients of our factoring division access the IBM iSeries indirectly, by dialing into our NT server before connecting to the IBM iSeries," explains the bank’s spokesperson. "This increase in remote access has highlighted the need for more security on the front end and therefore we must ensure user integrity and authenticity. We concluded that the password facility alone was no longer sufficient in verifying user identity. This is why we chose Safestone's DetectIT with RSA SecurID."

"In addition to the issue of remote access controls, we also felt that user logs and audit facilities are important in helping us maintain the integrity of our systems. We can positively identify all network and system users. The logs provide a history of what is going on," he continues. "We have confidence in Safestone's product offering. The integration with authentication methodology such as RSA SecurID, has proven Safestone's innovative skills with technology. We have used DetectIT for a number of years now and it is good for everyone to see that DetectIT is a household name within the IT industry.”
