April 21, 2010 - Safestone Technologies, the world's leading supplier of System i security and compliance solutions, today announced that it has joined the RSA Secured® Partner Program to certify interoperability between Safestone DetectIT and the RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication system from RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC).  This certification signifies that an interoperability partnership has been established to increase security for joint customers who use Safestone DetectIT, the audit and compliance solution for the IBM Power System, IBM i.

"RSA is the recognized leader in two factor authentication and we are excited to be a part of the RSA Secured Partner Program", said Terry Heath, Safestone COO, "Safestone understands the need for this type of technical collaboration due to evolving compliance requirements and complex networked environments.  Having a two-factor authentication solution available with our System i security offerings will allow us to provide System i shops with an even more comprehensive and innovative security solution."

RSA SecurID is the market-leading two-factor authentication system used by more than 40 million people across more than 30,000 organizations worldwide. It is engineered to assure user identities and protect against unauthorized access to applications and resources across numerous physical locations. RSA SecurID technology is comprised of both a broad range of hardware and software authenticators that provide end users with a onetime password that is designed to change every 60 seconds.

"We are pleased to welcome Safestone into the RSA Secured Partner Program. Through our technical collaboration, joint customers will benefit from secure and remote access to corporate resources without sacrificing end-user convenience," said Ted Kamionek, Vice President, Business Development and Technical Alliances at RSA. "Our collaboration with Safestone will help organizations more easily increase layers of protection, both reducing complexity and increasing confidence so that identities, information and infrastructure are better protected."

Two-factor authentication is a key technology which helps meet PCI Data Security requirements. The PCI data security standards were developed to allow companies to proactively secure and store sensitive customer data.  Securing how users access this data with strong authentication provides a solid policy to further protect access to data. In addition, the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) requires that banks and other financial institutions need to use two-factor authentication for user access.
